JB rides his bike!

I know it has been a while since we have posted, and there is lots we could have put up here, but life is fun and we are busy!  I just wanted to share a couple videos, and maybe I'll get back to providing better updates!

Lots of progress since my last post....  JB is now riding his pedal bike without training wheels!  This was the first time he tried it, and he just took off!  I was shocked!  He still prefers his Strider bike, but it won't be long before he is pedaling all the time!

Elise is a wild woman and doing everything she can to keep up with JB!

Walking, Biking, and Hawaii!

Wow are we way behind on blogging!

As of yesterday (April 1, 2012) Elise is walking!!  Just shy of 10 months -- check out the video!  She sure is a tough girl trying to keep up with JB!  She also loves clapping, waving, playing peek-a-boo, crawling, putting everything in her mouth, and swimming/taking a bath!

 

JB is also becoming quite a bike rider on his "Strider" balance bike.  Mom often wants to close her eyes and is shocked at some of the things he bikes though just by coasting (and without breaks!).  JB has now been potty trained for a couple months (at 2 yrs + 7 months), and he does quite well with minimal accidents.  He really enjoyed skiing this year, and hopefully next year he'll be able to stop reliably by himself!  Right now, all he wants to do is ride his bike!

We had a wonderful trip to Hawaii in February with the Brewers.  On the way to Hawaii, we enjoyed a long layover in Los Angeles where we got to spend a few hours with my grandfather, "Hank."  It was a treasure to see him and introduce him to Elise (we have visited him a couple times with JB in the past, too).  Aunt Julie and Uncle Bill also met us for our visit.  Hank recently passed away March 24th, so we were so fortunate to have visited him so recently.  We have so many wonderful memories of Hank, and he lived a full and happy life to the age of 95!

We stayed in Kauai for a week in a wonderful home, right on the ocean, complete with a salt water pool in the lava rocks!  The Brewer clan was joined by Marcy, and Staci, Leon and Griffin.  It was such magical week!  Relaxing, enjoying the sunrises and sunsets, golfing, hiking, snorkeling, whale watching....just enjoying time with family and friends!

Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the 2002 Winter Games in SLC/Park City!  Grandma got us these great T-shirts and we went to the Olympic Park Museum for a party!

JB is working hard to be potty trained, and he is doing a great job overall.  We are all excited to leave one set of diapers behind us!

Oct 30th - Joe's Marathon - 3:11:53!!!!! 3rd place finish in his age group (16th overall)!!

Bora Bora!

 We had an amazing trip to Bora Bora!  We are grateful to our parents and Holly and Theo for taking such good care of JB and Elise while we were gone.  We are so lucky to have had the opportunity to visit this beautiful island and get some R&R.  We particularly enjoyed the view of the pristine waters and island while sitting on the deck of our bungalow. 



In addition to relaxing on our deck, by the pool, or on the beach, we went scuba diving with manta rays and then with sharks, biked on the island, took a 4x4 tour including stops at some great vistas, got massages, enjoyed outdoor yoga classes and runs, and took a snorkeling excursion to "play with" sting rays and sharks.  Amazing experiences!   The wind interfered a bit with the sound on some of the video.

We were very excited to see JB and Elise upon our return.  JB is saying lots of funny things and speaking in full sentences, and he is starting to use his little potty more frequently.  Elise has now rolled over, and she is working on getting more consistent at sleeping through the night.  She is a stong little girl, just as her brother was, and she wants to push up on her feet and try to do sit-ups too!  She loves to smile at JB, and he loves to make her smile and make sure she is ok at all times!  As you can see, we are ready for football season!  Stay tuned for some more little videos of them (I thought I was going to post them here, but they are too big, so I need to do some editing).

 



Elise's Baptism and Camping

In early August, we enjoyed a visit from Tom, Tracey, Marin and Bennett to help us celebrate Elise's baptism. While Elise managed to cry through most of the ceremony, it was a wonderful event. We also got to enjoy swimming and a picnic and hiking during their visit.

At the end of August, we finally got in a summer camping trip. We enjoyed our new large tent (large enough for air mattresses and a pack n play!), and it kept us warm and dry during a big thunderstorm! JB especially enjoyed "some more s'mores" and wearing a headlamp!
